Michelle Carey writes contemporary romance, young adult fiction, and thrillers set close to home. Most of her books take place in Maryland and the Washington, DC area, with Crofton and Bowie at the center of the action. Born and raised in Washington, DC, Michelle built a 30 year career in administration and human resources, including 25 years in federal service at the Government Printing Office, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Office of Personnel Management.
She writes the kind of books she likes to read. Ones that are a little messy, set in places she knows, yet leave you satisfied. She also has written guides for writers, drawing on her screenwriting training and her own experiences.
Michelle holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, where she focused on screenwriting. She also earned a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Science in Human Resources Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Management. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society.
Based in Maryland, Michelle finds material in the everyday chaos of life. She is currently working on her next set of novels: The HOA: Hands On Approach, Nico James (sequel to Jinxed) and What Happened in Washington, DC (A Chronograph Story).
