Weekly 90 Day Summer Challenge Update

HA! I’m WEEEEEEKS behind on my update. LOL Oh well.

July 19th - This was the day before I was to come from Detroit. And well, let me tell you….I had a BAD toothache.

July 26th - Toothache all better but I have make a decision on one of the following - root canal or extraction. I think I’ve settled on the extraction with a bridge.

Here is the latest update on my three goals. They have gone to shit. lol

I haven’t edited anything on Jinx since the first part of July. Like at least two weeks have gone by. But today, July 29th, I’m back on it. I was going to go to the library last Saturday to work on it, but I couldn’t move outta my bed. I think I was just tired from my trip, then coming back with a bad toothache, then dealing with a lot of stuff at work. I just wanted to rest. So I did.

Eat less sugar? I did eat sugar. It’s been less than I normally have, but I had gotten to the point where I was really not eating any sugar. Today is a new day and I’m starting again.

IGTV - I did better on this, but not like I wanted. I did post some videos. But I had other things in mind. That didn’t pan out like I wanted. Maybe I was being lazy who knows. There will be other opportunities.

I’ve been thinking about my blog for the last two weeks, how I needed to write and update it. Now I feel better because I am. I want to keep up with this. I don’t want to go long spans of time before I write in my blog, like I did before.

Weekly 90 Day Summer Challenge Update

I’m here in Detroit. I’m at my daughter’s various bowling tournaments. It’s been a great and fun week so far. I have another week to go.

WIP - I’ve been getting brief opportunities to edit while I’ve been sitting in the bowling alleys. I’m lucky I’m getting in about 30 to 60 minutes of editing. I haven’t done any writing on one of my projects that I have for Camp NaNoWriMo. I have to get to 10,000 words by the end of the month. ***SIGH***

Less sugar - I’ve been eating less added sugar, but I’ve been heavy on the bread this past week. I will see on Sunday how much weight I’ve lost. While on travel, it’s been difficult to really keep within my parameters of what I’m trying to do. I’m still making the best decisions I can given the circumstances. Right now, I’m munching on my sweet green bell peppers. Good in Vitamin C and has fiber.

IGTV - I really thought my trip would help me do more IGTV content. The most I’ve done is do IG stories. I’m really bad at this goal. I have to overcome this blockage I have when it comes to posting these videos. Working on my internal so I can share my external. I guess.

Weekly 90 Day Summer Challenge Update

I posted an update last Sunday because I wasn’t able to do it last Friday. And yesterday, well I just plain forgot. lol

Here’s the update.

WIP - I’ve started editing Jinxed. I started with my paper copy, but because I’m also using ProWriting Aid, it’s just easier for me to edit there than on the paper copy. In the past, I’ve started editing on paper and then eventually ended up editing on the computer. I also listen to the drafts. I can follow along with the words. This way I know if I’m missing a word or things read wonky. I’ve done three scenes out of 100 so far. if I do two or three scenes a day, I will be finished before the summer is over. I’m making mad progress considering I wanted the first draft completed by August 31st.

Less sugar - Still sticking with it. I weigh myself on Sundays. So I don’t know how much I’ve lost this week. I’m feeling a little bloated so who knows. I just have to stick with it because I don’t feel tired all the time. I do feel like I have more energy. But I also have to do better. For the most part, I do not have added sugars. But like yesterday, I fasted for 20 hours, so when I did eat, I ate baked drumette wings (5), a small side salad, a piece of garlic bread (ugh) and meat lasagna (why?). I stayed within my calorie goal, matter of fact I was 300 calories short, but my goal is not so much the calories, but the carbs and added sugar.

IGTV - Not doing so well on this goal. I didn’t post any videos this past week. I’m struggling for content. At least I think I’m struggling for content. Maybe I’m not being creative enough, who knows. But this is my back and forth thing with social media. One minute I want to do it, the next not so much. I think I will talk about this in my weekly podcast - Introverted with Michelle Carey.

Jinxed Update

I’m so close to finishing. I should be done within the next 10 days, maybe even five, if I keep my word count up. I’ve been putting in words counts between 1000 to 2000 words every time I write.

Once I’m done, I will let it rest. And start the editing process of rewriting and revising in about a month or so. I need to read it with fresh eyes, make my editing notes and proceed to make any corrections before I send it off to the professional editors to review. I never understood how some authors, especially those in Urban fiction, get their books out so quickly or get so many books out in one year. They aren’t James Patterson and have co-authors.

This is the time I get excited; when the first draft has completed and I can read it like it’s an actual book. This book will definitely be out later this year.

Books Update

I’ve been getting some significant writing in. I’ve been working to get The Crofton Triangle revised. Plus Jinxed is almost finished.

I’ve set some goals for myself and I’ve been sticking to them. Whoo Hoo!!! Sometimes, I set goals and within a week, I’m breaking the goal because my life gets in the way. But this time, I’m scheduling my life around my writing. I’m not trying to find the time to write. Writing is first and I work around that schedule. Much different than before.

I’ve even started doing some pre-writing - outlining a new book. I had this idea and I couldn’t let it go, so I had to just fit it into the schedule, despite the fact I have a laundry list of other books I slated to be written. Whew! Okay, I’m just going to go with it. No worries.
