Weekly 90 Day Summer Challenge Update

HA! I’m WEEEEEEKS behind on my update. LOL Oh well.

July 19th - This was the day before I was to come from Detroit. And well, let me tell you….I had a BAD toothache.

July 26th - Toothache all better but I have make a decision on one of the following - root canal or extraction. I think I’ve settled on the extraction with a bridge.

Here is the latest update on my three goals. They have gone to shit. lol

I haven’t edited anything on Jinx since the first part of July. Like at least two weeks have gone by. But today, July 29th, I’m back on it. I was going to go to the library last Saturday to work on it, but I couldn’t move outta my bed. I think I was just tired from my trip, then coming back with a bad toothache, then dealing with a lot of stuff at work. I just wanted to rest. So I did.

Eat less sugar? I did eat sugar. It’s been less than I normally have, but I had gotten to the point where I was really not eating any sugar. Today is a new day and I’m starting again.

IGTV - I did better on this, but not like I wanted. I did post some videos. But I had other things in mind. That didn’t pan out like I wanted. Maybe I was being lazy who knows. There will be other opportunities.

I’ve been thinking about my blog for the last two weeks, how I needed to write and update it. Now I feel better because I am. I want to keep up with this. I don’t want to go long spans of time before I write in my blog, like I did before.

Weekly 90 Day Summer Challenge Update

I’m here in Detroit. I’m at my daughter’s various bowling tournaments. It’s been a great and fun week so far. I have another week to go.

WIP - I’ve been getting brief opportunities to edit while I’ve been sitting in the bowling alleys. I’m lucky I’m getting in about 30 to 60 minutes of editing. I haven’t done any writing on one of my projects that I have for Camp NaNoWriMo. I have to get to 10,000 words by the end of the month. ***SIGH***

Less sugar - I’ve been eating less added sugar, but I’ve been heavy on the bread this past week. I will see on Sunday how much weight I’ve lost. While on travel, it’s been difficult to really keep within my parameters of what I’m trying to do. I’m still making the best decisions I can given the circumstances. Right now, I’m munching on my sweet green bell peppers. Good in Vitamin C and has fiber.

IGTV - I really thought my trip would help me do more IGTV content. The most I’ve done is do IG stories. I’m really bad at this goal. I have to overcome this blockage I have when it comes to posting these videos. Working on my internal so I can share my external. I guess.

Weekly 90 Day Summer Challenge Update

I have a lot of things going on at the moment. Outside of my summer challenges.

I have my massage today with Yao. 90 minutes of peace and relaxation. Her hands are heaven sent.

I also have to finish packing for my trip to Detroit. I have a few items that need to be washed. I have my list of things to pack, but I feel like I’m waiting for the last minute to get anything done.

I then need to get the oil changed to my daughter’s car. We’re driving her car because it’s better on gas. 87 octane versus 93.

It’s also CAMP NANOWRIMO month. Every April and July. I’m working on getting to 10,000 words in one of my newer projects. In camp, a writer can work by words, minutes, hours, pages…whatever floats. Unlike NaNoWriMo in November. That’s all about 50k words. I have to be diligent and work on my project while I’m in Detroit. I’m taking my computer, so I should be able to stay on track.

Update:

WIP: I’ve been reading another book about Showing vs Telling in writing. To make sure I’m showing and not telling, I took another look at the first five scenes I wrote in Jinxed. It took me about two hours to rewrite sentences that could have been written better and/or stronger. I’m going to take about an hour today to do scene six. Slow and steady wins the race. I will make the December 2019 publishing date.

Less sugar: WHAAAAAAT, I’m crushing it! I’ve lost 10.2 pounds! Since June 9th! I feel better. I can feel the difference when I rise in the morning. I don’t feel sluggish after a night’s rest. This has prompted me to think about rejoining a gym. I listened to this audio book on nutrition. It was informative. As I age, I lose lean muscle mass. I need to get into a gym and start weight lifting to retain my muscle. I don’t want to be sack of fat and bones as I age. YUCK! LA Fitness? Gold’s Gym? Planet Fitness? What’s your recommendation? I live within a four mile radius of all three.

IGTV: I’m trash with this goal. I think it will be better when I leave for Detroit. I’ll have something to share. Right now, I’m not interested in getting in front of a camera and rambling. I want my content to have meaning. I want it to be interesting, so people will want to stay tuned. I haven’t posted any videos in two weeks. This will get better over the next two weeks tho!

Weekly 90 Day Summer Challenge Update

I posted an update last Sunday because I wasn’t able to do it last Friday. And yesterday, well I just plain forgot. lol

Here’s the update.

WIP - I’ve started editing Jinxed. I started with my paper copy, but because I’m also using ProWriting Aid, it’s just easier for me to edit there than on the paper copy. In the past, I’ve started editing on paper and then eventually ended up editing on the computer. I also listen to the drafts. I can follow along with the words. This way I know if I’m missing a word or things read wonky. I’ve done three scenes out of 100 so far. if I do two or three scenes a day, I will be finished before the summer is over. I’m making mad progress considering I wanted the first draft completed by August 31st.

Less sugar - Still sticking with it. I weigh myself on Sundays. So I don’t know how much I’ve lost this week. I’m feeling a little bloated so who knows. I just have to stick with it because I don’t feel tired all the time. I do feel like I have more energy. But I also have to do better. For the most part, I do not have added sugars. But like yesterday, I fasted for 20 hours, so when I did eat, I ate baked drumette wings (5), a small side salad, a piece of garlic bread (ugh) and meat lasagna (why?). I stayed within my calorie goal, matter of fact I was 300 calories short, but my goal is not so much the calories, but the carbs and added sugar.

IGTV - Not doing so well on this goal. I didn’t post any videos this past week. I’m struggling for content. At least I think I’m struggling for content. Maybe I’m not being creative enough, who knows. But this is my back and forth thing with social media. One minute I want to do it, the next not so much. I think I will talk about this in my weekly podcast - Introverted with Michelle Carey.

Weekly 90 Day Summer Challenge Update

I didn’t get a chance to write my June 21st weekly update. I was out of town on a college campus visit. That went well.

WIP - I FINISHED JINXED!!!! And I’ve gotten the editing copy printed for me begin edits next month. I was thinking of choosing another WIP to work on for the remainder of the 90 days, but I’ve decided to stick with Jinx. I’m already doing Camp NaNoWriMo for one of my other projects. I’ve kinda put The Crofton Triangle on hold until I figure out the structure changes.

Less sugar - I’ve been keeping up with the less sugar. So far since June 9th, I’ve lost 7.1 pounds. I thought it would be much harder than expected. I do notice how much added sugar is in a lot of things we eat. Especially in fast food choices.

IGTV - I haven’t posted on my channels in the last week, but I’ve gotten feedback how people have been liking the vlogs. On a side note, I’ve also been keeping a regular schedule of posting my podcast. I’ve gotten some promising numbers about the growth of it.
