JINXED - First Draft - DONE!!!!

Feeling pretty accomplished right now.

I have finally completed the first draft to the Jinxed manuscript. This has been a long time in the making because I wrote the screenplay in 2006. So much has changed since that time in regards to technology. I had a lot to update. But I made it through.

I wanted to get to at least 50k words. I only clocked in at 47,151. I hoping through the rewrite and revision process I will make up for the shortfall. But the main thing is that the first draft is done, done, done!

Imma say it again friends, IT’S DONE!!!!!

Jinxed Update

I’m so close to finishing. I should be done within the next 10 days, maybe even five, if I keep my word count up. I’ve been putting in words counts between 1000 to 2000 words every time I write.

Once I’m done, I will let it rest. And start the editing process of rewriting and revising in about a month or so. I need to read it with fresh eyes, make my editing notes and proceed to make any corrections before I send it off to the professional editors to review. I never understood how some authors, especially those in Urban fiction, get their books out so quickly or get so many books out in one year. They aren’t James Patterson and have co-authors.

This is the time I get excited; when the first draft has completed and I can read it like it’s an actual book. This book will definitely be out later this year.

Looking forward to the next steps.

2019 🍒 90 Day Summer 🌝Challenge

This will be the third time of me doing my 90 day summer challenge. 👏🏽👏🏽 I did it in 2017 and last year, 2018.  Each summer, on June 1st, I pick out some goals to work on for the next 90 days. Basically to August 31st/September 1.

This year I’m going to focus on finishing the first draft of one of my WIPs. 🤔  I’m thinking Jinxed. 🖋

The second thing is lessening how much sugar I eat. 🤯 Through a lot of prayer and meditation I really hope to make progress on this goal. It seems like everything we consume has sugar in it. I haven’t decided if I’m going to give up my fruit in the morning. 🤭🤦🏽‍♀️

The third thing is making sure I vlog on my IGTV channel. 📹 I’m over YouTube. 😒 😂 I have two IGTV channels. One is specifically for highlighting my writing efforts. I’ve been looking at editing apps for vertical video.  I need to get that and I hope to post my second video sometime over the next few days. I haven’t posted video to my main IG channel. Not sure if I want to. But I’m definitely going to post on my writing channel. 💙

These are three goals for the summer of 2019. Next up date will be in two to four weeks. For some reason this year I’m being very lose with how I’m doing this. I’m feeling free with it. 💃🏽

Let me know if you have some summer goals you plan to pursue for the next 90 days.

Thanks Kate Cavanaugh @CavanaughWrites

I found this writer on YouTube by the name of Kate Cavanaugh. She’s a young writer who wants to be an author. A writer who makes a living. A paid writer. I’m a paid writer, but I don’t make a living off it yet. YET!

I like her videos because she’s genuine. I discovered her during April’s NaNoWriMo Camp. I think I would like being in her cabin for July’s camp.

It was because of watching her videos, I decided to be more purposeful with my writing. At the time, I came across her videos I was working on The Crofton Triangle. But it was her that made me see I could work on multiple projects at the same time. Not that I didn’t know I couldn’t do this, I just chose not to. I felt like I should dedicate my time to getting one thing done at a time. No wonder it takes me such a long time to get a WIP out that status and into completed.

Now that I’m working on multiple writing projects at a time, I feel a sense of accomplishment. I’ve set daily word goals for each project and now I don’t feel overwhelmed about getting it all done. If I write more than the daily, then I feel like I’m a step closer. If I only write the daily goal, I feel I’ve still worked on my project instead of thinking about working on my project, than feeling guilty that I thought about working on my project, but didn’t. LOL

I started writing short stories as a kid, but my interest became greater when I learned screenwriting. I love writing screenplays, but I didn’t think I would get anywhere with it, so I switched to writing books/novels. Of which I’ve been successful as a small independent writer. But it was Kate C, who made me want to write screenplays again. I saw her video on attempting to write a screenplay based on one of her book writing projects. And I was like HEY, I CAN DO THAT! Two of my books are base off their screenplay counterparts! I’ve had this idea swirling in my head for years, but it being a book just didn’t seem to fit it. I’m going to write it as a screenplay. Back to my old stomping grounds, one could say.

So THANKS Kate C! I appreciate you and your videos!
