Update: James Patterson Co-Author Competition
I didn't make it to the semi finalist list. *SHOCKER* lol. I was really pumped for this competition, but shortly before the announcement of the names, I realized I didn't want to be one of the 10 semi finalists. Isn't that a strange thought? Wellllll, not really...and here's why.
The first time I read a James Patterson book was Honeymoon and that was the book used for his MasterClass. This was about eight weeks ago. I had never read anything the best selling author had ever written. While, I found being his co-author appealing (aka a boost to my writing career), I wasn't sure if I could write in his style. I have my own style. I like my style and I've written a lot of things in the way I want to do it. However, what I've learned in his MasterClass is using every chapter as a scene. This technique is useful. Even though I'm not too keen on having a lot of chapters.
Now I feel like I write MY idea, MY way. I can make it as crazy and wild or mild and tame as I want. I feel like I have my creator control back over my idea. Now that's where it's at. I'm not opposed to co-creating, but I think I've gotten to use to my name being the headliner - and that's okay!
I wish those ten semi-finalist out of hundreds, perhaps thousands good luck! Enjoy the experience!
In the meantime, my idea will be released at a future date. This idea is totally out of my realm of what I usually write and I'm looking forward to the experience!
